This is 15 inch Sirupate Most Wanted Jungle Training Khukuri (also called kukri by most people outside Nepal). This particular khukuri’s name comes from the grass named Siru (Cogon Grass) which is a type of weed and has thin blade leaves. The width of the blade of this khukuri is not as wide as other types of khukuris. This also results in making the khukuri light weight. So, British Gurkhas use this type of khukuris for their jungle training exercise as it is easy to carry on the belt or hold in the hand for longer duration in the the jungle. This khukuri is very handy and comfortable for chopping wood or bone, cleaing bushes and suitable for even other kind of domestic works.

The blade is made of 5160 high carbon steel from car & jeep leaf springs. The handle is made of Rosewood. The scabbard is made of Pinewood wrapped in Water Buffalo leather.

This particular knife’s name is come from the name of grass, ‘siru’. The shape of this khukuri blade is very much alike to the leaf of the Siru. Hence it is called Sirupate khukuri. It has straight blade and not as wide as other knives. This kind of blade very usefull to light work, now day British Gurkhas also use similar this kind of light blade for jungle training. The sheath is made of water buffalo lather. This blade can be used to chop wood or bone cleaning bushes and other kind of domestic work.
